Here the doors belong to whole villas: the loud wing takes Canteena and its patio bar, grandparents take the calm of Sarita or Umakiha, teenagers colonize the Family Suite above the games palapa, and the couple that just got engaged disappears across the swinging bridge to the Honeymoon Suite.

The long table is wherever you want it — the estate's chefs serve table-side, poolside, beachside, or beside the cenote by candlelight. Babysitting can be arranged at select villas; the games level under the palapa (table soccer, darts, ping-pong, karaoke, electronic basketball) absorbs every rainy hour and half the sunny ones.

• Each villa can take up to two extra guests for a per-night fee plus tax, confirmed at booking.
